Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
