Shocking Footage Shows Moment Police Suffer Blade Attacks in Ambush

The Two Senior Officers Moments Prior to the Aggressor Received Electric Shock

A ranking policeman who rushed to the assistance of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a blade-wielder received the Monarch's Honor for Courage.

Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he pressed a weapon to the throat of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown began the violence as the law enforcement personnel and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a driver after a traffic accident in Whalley Range in July 2023.

Brown knifed and cut the two Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a stun gun.

"Officer knifed," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his radio.

Officer-mounted and dashcam recording shared by the force showed Brown, wearing in black with a hood up, approach to Sgt Foster from behind with a blade extended.

He ran into the policeman who lost balance and dropped to the ground, before Sgt Ansell intervened and struggled to restrain him to the floor despite being continually attacked with the knife.

Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and awaited a clear shot, ending the fight to an finish.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "Please provide something on my throat here, I've been stabbed in the neck."

Sergeant Ansell suffered multiple open wounds to his throat and more cuts to his arms and body, while Sgt Foster received knife wounds.

Authorities stated Sergeant Foster employed his hands to control his colleague's hemorrhaging before paramedics came.

The new recognition follows subsequent to the three officers were granted departmental Valor Recognitions in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the regional Police Federation in April 2024.

They were also awarded a Regional Bravery Award in mid-2024.

"The efforts of all three officers eventually protected themselves and meant no members of the public experienced any wounds."

Brown was sentenced to an secure medical confinement in early 2024, according to officials.
