Trevoh Chalobah Expected to Replace Guehi in England Squad

Trevoh Chalobah in action

Trevoh Chalobah followed his sibling Nathaniel in playing for England, emerging as the 21st duo of brothers to play for the national team.

The Chelsea defender is set to join up with the Three Lions selection to cover for injured Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is scheduled to join the squad for England's final World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania, although it has yet to be officially announced.

The Three Lions have already booked their place for next summer's competition.

Chalobah received his maiden call-up under England head coach Thomas Tuchel in May and then earned his first cap against Senegal.

In the month of September, Tuchel said Chalobah was unlucky to be excluded from the squad for qualifiers against Serbia and Andorra, and additionally omitted him for the subsequent October fixtures.

Tuchel has been an significant presence in Chalobah's career, having awarded him his Chelsea first appearance in the year 2021.

Chalobah has appeared in nearly all games for Chelsea in the current campaign, with the side in third place in the Premier League, in the EFL Cup quarter-finals and in the league phase of the Champions League.

Guehi picked up a foot problem in Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League victory over the Dutch side last week.

There are likely to be additional inclusions to the squad. Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has said that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip injury) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) will withdraw from the national team.
