UK Military Bases to Host Asylum Seekers in Effort to Terminate Hotel-Based Usage
Several hundred refugee applicants may be accommodated in military barracks as the authorities works to phase out the use of hotel accommodations.
Talks are underway regarding the utilization of two sites - one in Scotland and the other in the south of England - for housing for 900 men.
The PM has ordered Home Office and Military Ministry representatives to speed up initiatives to locate proper military sites.
The administration has vowed to eliminate the use of refugee hotels, which have cost substantial taxpayer money and become a primary concern for anti-migrant protests.
Planned Defense Locations
Asylum seekers may be accommodated in the Cameron Barracks in Highland region and East Sussex training site in southeastern England by the conclusion of the coming month.
Manufacturing locations, temporary accommodation and otherwise disused accommodation are also being considered for possible utilization.
Administration Statements
Administration officials stated that every facility would meet wellbeing requirements.
"Our administration is extremely concerned at the scale of unauthorized immigrants and temporary hotel accommodations."
"The current leadership will terminate every asylum hotel. Preparations are advancing rapidly, with more suitable sites being identified to ease pressure on local areas and reduce migrant housing expenditures."
Current Housing Figures
Approximately thirty-two thousand asylum seekers are at this time being sheltered in hotels, representing a decrease from a peak of more than 56 thousand in the previous year.
A recent report found that multiple billions of government revenue had been "squandered" on asylum accommodation.
Prior Military Site Operation
Two ex-armed forces locations - former RAF base in the eastern county and the Napier facility in Kent - are currently being used to shelter asylum seekers after being opened under the previous government.
The Prime Minister commented on the developments, stating: "We remain resolved to shut down each temporary accommodation facility. I can't tell you how frustrated and angry the administration feels that we've been left with a challenge as significant as these developments by the previous administration."
